Academic Load: The curriculum for the academic programmes is designed to provide a balance of biblical / theological studies and pastoral / ministry training to equip the students. The curriculum comprises core subjects in Old Testament / New Testament studies, Christian Education, Church History, Theology, Pastoral Ministry and Counselling. The study of Biblical Languages is required for degree programmes. Students are required to enrol for a minimum of 12 credits / semester. An average of 16 credits / semester are required in order to complete the requirement of the programme within the stipulated time frame.

Core Curriculum: The core curriculum comprises the essential courses for the specific department.

  1. Old Testament Core Curriculum (8 credits): The Pentateuch (2 credits), The Historical Books (2 credits), The Poetic Books (2 credits) and The Prophetic Books (2 credits)
  2. New Testament Core Curriculum (8 credits): Introduction to the New Testament (2 credits), Jesus & the Gospel (2 credits), Paul & His Writings (2 credits) and General Epistles & Apocalypse (2 credits).
  3. Theology Core Curriculum (8 credits): Bibliology & Theology Proper
    (2 credits), Anthropology & Soteriology (2 credits), Christology & Pneumatology (2 credits) and Ecclesiology & Eschatology (2 credits).
  4. Pastoral Ministry Core Curriculum (8 credits): Homiletics (2 credits), Hermeneutics (2 credits), Apologetics (2 credits) and Pastoral Ethics – His Life, His Family and His Ministry (2 credits).
  5. Counselling Core Curriculum (8 credits): Introduction to Biblical Counselling (2 credits), Theology of Biblical Counselling (2 credits), Counselling Issues (2 credits) and Dynamics of Biblical Change (2 credits)
  6. Church History Core Curriculum (4 credits): Church History I: Post-Apostolic – Medieval (2 credits) and Church History II: Reformation – Modern
    (2 credits).
  7. Christian Education Core Curriculum (4 credits): Introduction to Christian Education (2 credits) and The Principles and Methods of Teaching
    (2 credits).
  8. Biblical Languages Core Curriculum (20 credits): Basic Biblical Greek I & II (6 credits), Analytical Biblical Greek I & II (4 credits), Basic Biblical Hebrew I & II (6 credits) and Analytical Biblical Hebrew I & II (4 credits).

*All students are required to pass the core curriculum required for their respective programme in order to graduate.

Electives / Options: Electives refer to those courses which are not part of the core curriculum for each department. These courses are meant to complement the core curriculum. Options refer to the courses which may be the core curriculum for a department but not the essential requirement for the specific academic programme.

Practicum (2 credits / semester): The full-time student is required to be attached to a church / organization as an understudy to a supervisory pastor / full-time worker as assigned by the College. The duration will be per semester basis as determined by the College. This practicum will provide the student the exposure to the ministry in different churches / organizations.

Project (2 credits) / Thesis (4 credits): Bachelor and Masters students are required to submit a thesis on the final year of their programme. The thesis is to be completed within 2 semesters. Unless approved by the College, the thesis supervisor must be a faculty of the College. For the Diploma programme, the student would be required to submit a final year project instead. The thesis / final year project must be completed before the student can graduate.
